DESCRIPTION:September 30 – October 1\, 2022\nWe’re excited to announce this year’s Resource Family Conference will be held in-person on September 30 and October 1\, 2022! This is a wonderful opportunity for Resource Families (which includes relatives and foster families) to come together for a fun weekend on us. We will be providing hotel rooms at the Double Tree Hotel in Overland Park for out-of-town caregivers (those who live more than 60 miles from the hotel)\, dinner on Friday night\, and Saturday at the Kansas City Zoo with lunch provided. \nWhile we typically use the RFC to provide helpful training\, this year we want to focus on support and appreciation because we can provide a wide range of CEU options virtually and in-person throughout the year to meet your training needs. \nAdditional details:\nFriday Night\n\nWe have rooms reserved at the Double Tree In Overland Park for out-of-town foster parents (those who live more than 60 miles from the hotel). These rooms are on a first-come\, first-serve basis. The hotel is offering a discounted rate if you’d like to stay an additional night: $129 for a double room and $119 for a king room (this additional night won’t be covered by KVC).\nDinner Friday night is at the Double Tree. ALL Resource Families are welcome to dinner (in-town and out-of-town).\nRegistration bags\, a give-away room\, community booths\, games and prizes will be available for attendees.\nNo childcare will be provided\, but this is a family-friendly dinner\n\nSaturday\n\nWe have complimentary tickets for your whole family to the Kansas City Zoo\nKVC will be providing lunch for your family from 11:30am to 2pm with a special guest appearance from a face painter for the kids!\nFamilies can come and go as they please from the zoo. SUMMARY:2021 Virtual Resource Family Conference
DESCRIPTION:May 1\, 2021\nWe’re excited to announce this year’s Resource Family Conference will be held virtually! This is a wonderful\, free training opportunity for Resource Families (which includes relatives and foster families) to learn a range of new topics\, such as helping youth feel safe and connected\, promoting healthy brain development and resilience\, and partnering with other members of a child’s support team. This year’s event kicks off National Foster Care Month\, and we have tons planned to show you our appreciation! \nAdditional details:\n\nWe will also be hosting five virtual social hours on April 30\, May 6\, May 11\, May 19 and May 24 hosted by KVC staff from 7-8 PM each night. To join\, please use Zoom meeting ID- 983 311 6610. We will limit the social hours to the first 40 families that log on.\nTune in for the Keynote Speaker Josh Shipp on May 1 @9am (details below)\nUp to 11 training hours will available (see topics below). As a Holiday Hero\, you are making a commitment to give them the gifts they have their hearts set on. \nOur team is collecting presents\, gift cards and monetary donations to make sure children who are in foster care\, have safely reunited with their family or have been adopted have a happy holiday.
