Caring People Needed

KVC Kansas is a private, nonprofit organization that serves nearly 13,000 children and adults each year. Our team of professionals provides family strengthening and preventative services, foster care case management, family reunification services, foster family recruitment and support, adoption, aftercare, outpatient therapy and more.

2Generation Program: Free Community-Based Services for Families
Empowering Families for Generations
KVC Kansas’ 2Generation Program strives to end the cycle of poverty across generations by working with children and their caregivers as a unified family. We provide personalized one-on-one, virtual, and group interventions, along with vital resources and referrals, to tackle the root causes of poverty.
Families participate in a range of services tailored to improve their health, social connections, parenting skills, and housing and economic stability.
Through the 2Generation Program, families receive:
- In-depth in-home and virtual support sessions lasting 3–6 months, customized based on family needs.
- Personalized service plans addressing areas like financial literacy, healthy relationships, protective factors and parenting skills.
- Connection to a behavioral health service provider in their community for any identified needs.
- Access to additional free community-based services such as KVC Kansas’
- Connect Attachment Groups,
- Strengthening Families Program (SFP),
- Parenting Through Change (PTC) via our Group PMTO program,
- Parent Empowerment Program (PEP) via our Group PMTO program, and
- FDIC Money Smart program.
- Application assistance for essential programs such as:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),
- USDA Commodity Programs
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Child Care Assistance
- Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), and
- Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
- Crisis stabilization services as needed.
Upon completion of the 2Generation program, families achieve:
- Improved child and family behavioral and mental health
- Enhanced understanding of financial literacy concepts such as budgeting, banking, etc.
- Access to safe and affordable housing resources
- Increased access to gainful employment or job skills training opportunities in their community
- Improved family communication and parenting skills

Where are KVC’s 2Generation Program services provided?
KVC Kansas provides 2Generation Program services and support across 27 eastern Kansas counties. Those counties include Allen, Anderson, Atchison, Bourbon, Brown, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Coffey, Crawford, Doniphan, Douglas, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Labette, Linn, Marshall, Miami, Montgomery, Nemaha, Neosho, Osage, Pottawatomie, Shawnee, Wabaunsee, Wilson, and Woodson.
Families living in the blue highlighted counties below can access KVC Kansas’ 2Generation Program services.
How do I make a 2Generation Program referral?
KVC Kansas accepts 2Generation Program referrals for families currently living below 200% of the poverty line from:
- Partner agencies such as Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF), schools, and community services
- Self-referrals from families
Families currently receiving SNAP, Childcare assistance, or TANF cash assistance automatically qualify.
