SUMMARY:Out Of The Darkness Community Walk
DESCRIPTION:More than 39\,000 lives are lost each year in the U.S. due to suicide. Suicide claims more lives than war\, murder and natural disasters combined\, and yet suicide prevention does not get anywhere near the funding given to other leading causes of death. \nOn October 3\, 2015\, the KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital team will join with thousands of people nationwide in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) Out Of The Darkness Community Walk at Berkley Riverfront Park in Kansas City\, MO. The walk will raise awareness and funds which will allow AFSP to invest in new research\, create educational programs\, advocate for public policy and support survivors of suicide loss. With 77 local chapters and events hosted nationwide\, AFSP’s goal is to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025. \nWE INVITE ANYONE TO GET INVOLVED\, AND HERE’S HOW: \n\nWalk with our team on October 3:\nVisit the KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital team page and click the ‘Join Our Team’ button.
