SUMMARY:Teen Connect
DESCRIPTION:Tara Davis and Kellie Hans-Reid are offering a 10 week attachment-based group for birth parents of preteens and teens called TEEN CONNECT \nTeen Connect is an evidence-based group program for birth parents or caregivers who would like to find ways to improve their relationships with their preteens and teens.  Adolescence can be a stressful time as youth strive for greater independence and yet still need the support and guidance of their parents. Building or rebuilding stronger connections with their teens helps parents find new ways to effectively navigate these challenges. \nAfter taking the group\, parents report feeling less stressed and more effective in parenting. They also see  fewer behavior problems and improved social functioning in their teens. \n\n97% of parents felt better equipped to understand their child.\n95% pf parents felt better equipped to understand themselves as a parent.\n86%  of parents saw positive changes in their relationship with their teens as a result of applying what they learned.\n\nStarting Tues\, September 18th at 5:30 at the KVC KCK office.   Dinner and childcare will be provided!  Assistance with gas cards is also possible if they qualify. \nThe group lasts for 90 minutes each session and there are 10 sessions\, every Tuesday from Sept 18 to November 20th .   \n\nParents can be from any program\nThis can count as a parenting class for a court order\nParents must have at least one child over the age of 12\nChildcare and dinner will be provided\nThis will be held in the KCK KVC office (address below)\n\nView Teen Connect success stories here: https://kansas.kvc.org/teen-connect/ \nInterested caregivers should call or email Kellie Hans Reid  khansreid@kvc.org who will enroll them in a group or provide more information and answer questions.
