DESCRIPTION:One of the first and most important steps to becoming a licensed foster or adoptive parent is to complete TIPS-MAPP classes (Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). These classes are designed to prepare you to care for a child who may have experienced trauma and to provide you with many other supportive skills in your journey as a foster or adoptive parent. \nThe training is offered by KVC at no cost to participants.The class will be held at the University Christian Church: 2800 Claflin Rd\, Manhattan\, KS. \nThe sessions will be as follows: \n\nMarch 14 | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break\nMarch 15 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break\nMarch 28 | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break\nMarch 29 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break\n\nThese classes are mandatory and must be completed before you may be considered for placement of children through foster care or adoption. Both parents must attend if there are two parents involved. Any person 18 years or older who lives in the home and shares parenting responsibilities must be MAPP trained.
