SUMMARY:Want to Foster or Adopt? Take the First Step with TIPS-MAPP Training - Leavenworth
DESCRIPTION:One of the first and most important steps to becoming a licensed foster or adoptive parent is to complete TIPS-MAPP classes (Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). These classes are designed to prepare you to care for a child who may have experienced trauma and to provide you with many other supportive skills in your journey as a foster or adoptive parent. \nThe next classes are scheduled to begin on Tuesday\, August 20th\, 2019. The training is offered by KVC at no cost to participants.The class will be offered at the Leavenworth KVC office at 225 Cherokee St\, Leavenworth KS 66048. \nThe sessions will be as follows: \n\nAug 20 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM            \nAug 27 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM            \nSept 3 –  6:00 PM – 9:00 PM                        \nSept 10 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM\nSept 17 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM\nSept 24 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM\nOct 1 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM\nOct 8 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM\nOct 15 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM\nOct 22 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM\n\nThese classes are mandatory and must be completed before you may be considered for placement of children through foster care or adoption. Both parents must attend if there are two parents involved. Any person 18 years or older who lives in the home and shares parenting responsibilities must be MAPP trained.
