Caring for Textured Hair: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers
Download our free guide on how to care for textured hair with confidence.
Hair is Identity. Hair is Confidence. Hair is Care.
Textured hair isn’t “just different”, it’s unique in its structure and care. It needs more moisture, gentler detangling and specific products made to protect its natural curl pattern. If you walk into any store, you’ll see a separate section for textured hair because what works for straight hair often doesn’t work for others.
When children or teens with textured hair entered care, caregivers wanted to help but didn’t always have the knowledge or tools to do so. KVC experts created this guide to bridge that gap, with understanding, confidence and love.
By giving parents and caregivers clear, simple steps, we’re helping kids feel proud of their natural beauty while building daily routines of care and connection.
Inside the Guide, You’ll Find:
-
Simple wash & condition routines for curls, coils and kinks
-
Moisturizing techniques that prevent dryness and breakage
-
Protective styles explained (like braids, twists and cornrows)
-
Tips for detangling without tears
-
Guidance on celebrating culture & identity through hair care
Supporting Youth Inside and Out
Hair is so much more than appearance; it’s a part of confidence and culture. With the right tools and knowledge, parents and caregivers can make hair care a moment of connection.
Supporting Caregivers with the Tools They Need
To make this even easier, we’ve created an Amazon Wish List of textured hair essentials. Items from this list go directly to foster parents, equipping them with the products children need to feel healthy, confident and cared for.
