Become a Foster or Adoptive Parent in Two Weekends – Manhattan

August 24, 2019 - September 8, 2019

One of the first and most important steps to becoming a licensed foster or adoptive parent is to complete TIPS-MAPP classes (Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). These classes are designed to prepare you to care for a child who may have experienced trauma and to provide you with many other supportive skills in your journey as a foster or adoptive parent.

The next classes are scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 24 2019. The training is offered by KVC at no cost to participants. The class will be offered at UCC Church, 2800 Claflin Rd, Manhattan, KS.

The sessions are as follows:

  • August 24 – 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • August 25 – 1:00PM – 7:00 PM
  • September 7 – 9:00AM – 6:00 PM
  • September 8 – 1:00PM – 7:00 PM

These classes are mandatory and must be completed before you may be considered for placement of children through foster care or adoption. Both parents must attend if there are two parents involved. Any person 18 years or older who lives in the home and shares parenting responsibilities must be MAPP trained. It is necessary to attend all sessions in order to complete the course.

If you have questions or wish to enroll, please contact Kim Edwards at 913-444-2195 or kiedwards@kvc.org.
