Become a Foster or Adoptive Parent in Two Weekends – Manhattan

January 11, 2020 - January 26, 2020

One of the first and most important steps to becoming a licensed foster or adoptive parent is to complete TIPS-MAPP classes (Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). These classes are designed to prepare you to care for a child who may have experienced trauma and to provide you with many other supportive skills in your journey as a foster or adoptive parent.

The training is offered by KVC at no cost to participants. The class will be held at the University Christian Church: 1506 Browning PL, Suite 101, Manhattan, KS.

The sessions will be as follows:

  • January 11 | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break
  • January 12 | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break
  • January 25 | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break
  • January 26 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 30 Minute Lunch Break

These classes are mandatory and must be completed before you may be considered for placement of children through foster care or adoption. Both parents must attend if there are two parents involved. Any person 18 years or older who lives in the home and shares parenting responsibilities must be MAPP trained. It is necessary to attend all sessions in order to complete the course.
