Children and teens belong with their own families whenever possible. KVC works to safely reintegrate hundreds of families each year by providing parenting skills training, therapy and other support.
Caring People Needed

About KVC Kansas
KVC Kansas is a private, nonprofit organization that serves over 15,000 children and adults each year. Our team of professionals provides family strengthening and preventative services, parent training, foster care case management, family reunification services, foster family recruitment and support, adoption, aftercare, outpatient therapy and more.

Become a Foster or Adoptive Parent in Two Weekends – Olathe
November 9, 2019 - November 10, 2019
One of the first and most important steps to becoming a licensed foster or adoptive parent is to complete TIPS-MAPP classes (Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). These classes are designed to prepare you to care for a child who may have experienced trauma and to provide you with many other supportive skills in your journey as a foster or adoptive parent.
The next classes are scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 26, 2019. The training is offered by KVC at no cost to participants.The class will be offered at the Heartland Community Church, 12175 S Strang Line Rd, Olathe, KS 66062.
The sessions will be as follows:
- October 26 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 30 min lunch break
- October 27 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 30 min lunch break
- November 9 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 30 min lunch break
- November 10 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 30 min lunch break
These classes are mandatory and must be completed before you may be considered for placement of children through foster care or adoption. Both parents must attend if there are two parents involved. Any person 18 years or older who lives in the home and shares parenting responsibilities must be MAPP trained. It is necessary to attend all sessions in order to complete the course.
