Families First
Children and teens belong with their own families whenever possible. KVC works to safely reunify hundreds of families each year by providing parenting skills training, therapy and other support.
Caring People Needed
On any given day, KVC Kansas provides out-of-home care for thousands of children and teens. Relatives, non-related kin like teachers and neighbors, and foster parents are all critical to providing temporary care for these children and teens. See how you can make a difference as a foster parent.

Empowered to Connect Conference

The Empowered to Connect Conference, presented by ShowHope, features practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care. It features Trust-Based Relational InterventionⓇ (TBRI) methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, to help bring attachment and connection in families. The content is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care, and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors and therapists.
This event will be simulcast 9am – 5pm April 13th and 14th at the Ball Conference Center.

Note About Continuing Education Registration:
CONTINUING EDUCATION REGISTRATION AND TRACKING OPTIONS FOR 2018 – Coming Soon
The Empowered to Connect Conference is a wonderful opportunity for professionals to receive continuing education credits to use towards their licensing requirements. In previous years, the event has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers for 11 hours. The Empowered to Connect Conference and Simulcast has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors for NBCC credit. Show Hope is responsible for all aspects of the program (NBCC Approval Number SP-2801).
One change in 2017 is that the National Association of Social Workers now considers the simulcast a distance learning event. This classification will require professionals desiring credit from NASW to complete a posttest after attending the conference. Additional details will be sent to registered professionals and they must indicate they would like to pursue this option when registering.
Each professional interested in receiving hours and a professional certificate is required to register and pay a separate fee.
