Families First
Children and teens belong with their own families whenever possible. KVC works to safely reunify hundreds of families each year by providing parenting skills training, therapy and other support.
Caring People Needed
On any given day, KVC Kansas provides out-of-home care for thousands of children and teens. Relatives, non-related kin like teachers and neighbors, and foster parents are all critical to providing temporary care for these children and teens. See how you can make a difference as a foster parent.

Teen Connect
Date: Mondays, 4pm to 5:30pm
Virtual
This training is a 9-week attachment-based group for foster parents of preteens and teens. Teen Connect is an evidence-based group program for birth parents, caregivers and foster parents who would like to find ways to improve their relationships with their preteens and teens. Adolescence can be a stressful time, as youth strive for greater independence, and yet still need the support and guidance of their parents. Building or rebuilding stronger connections with their teens helps parents find new ways to effectively navigate these challenges.
After taking the group, parents report feeling less stressed and more effective in parenting. They also see fewer behavior problems and improved social functioning in their teens.
- 97% of parents felt better equipped to understand their child.
- 95% of parents felt better equipped to understand themselves as a parent.
- 86% of parents saw positive changes in their relationship with their teens as a result of applying what they learned.
Requirements:
- Parents can be from any area or county
- Parents must have at least one child over the age of 12
- A maximum of two sessions can be missed before you are dropped from the course and no credit given.
