Caring People Needed
On any given day, KVC Kansas provides out-of-home care for thousands of children and teens. Relatives, non-related kin like teachers and neighbors, and foster parents are all critical to providing temporary care for these children and teens. See how you can make a difference as a foster parent.

About KVC Kansas
KVC Kansas is a private, nonprofit organization that serves over 12,000 children, teens and adults each year. Our team of caring professionals provides family strengthening and foster care prevention services, foster care case management, family reunification services, foster family recruitment and support, kinship care, adoption, aftercare, outpatient therapy and more.

Trauma Competent Caregiver Training- Olathe
Are you a parent that wants to be able to confidently give your family tools to go from surviving to thriving? Then join us on August 31st, September 7th, and September 14th from 9:00am- 3:00pm at the Ball Conference Center for The Trauma Competent Caregiver training.
The biblical and scientific based curriculum includes nine modules and will be presented over 3 days; August 31st, September 7th, and September 14th. The training is FREE and will include foster parents AND therapists and workers. Snacks, lunch and materials will be provided. Julie Lane and Alicia Dentler, M.S., LMFT will be facilitating the workshop. Julie has several years experience as a foster parent and Alicia is an adoptive kinship caregiver.
***YOU MUST ATTEND ALL 3 DAYS TO RECEIVE CREDIT.
The nine modules include:
1. Trauma and Its Impact on the Life of a Child
2. Understanding Trauma and Age-Related Developmental Impact
3. Becoming a Trauma Competent Caregiver: The Journey
4. Essential Skills 1 and 2: Using tools to understand the impact of trauma and Maximizing a child’s sense of felt safety.
5. Essential Skill 3: Helping a child to reduce overwhelming emotions and build connections.
6. Essential Skill 4: Helping a child to modify overwhelming behaviors and build connections.
7. Essential Skill 5: Supporting past relationships and promoting positive new ones.
8. Essential Skill 6: Helping a child develop a strength-based understanding of his/her life story.
9. Essential Skill 7: Learning to care for ourselves while caring for children.
