Families First
Children and teens belong with their own families whenever possible. KVC works to safely reunify hundreds of families each year by providing parenting skills training, therapy and other support.
Caring People Needed
On any given day, KVC Kansas provides out-of-home care for thousands of children and teens. Relatives, non-related kin like teachers and neighbors, and foster parents are all critical to providing temporary care for these children and teens. See how you can make a difference as a foster parent.

Host a Toy Drive for Children in Foster Care
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children and families during the holiday season?
At KVC Kansas, we believe in the power of connection, especially during the holidays. Our Holiday Heroes program brings joy and warmth to children and families in need. By hosting a toy drive for children and families experiencing foster care, you can create lasting connections that provide hope and love exactly when people need it most.
Here’s How You Can Host a Toy Drive:
1. Gather Your Group
Assemble your friends, family, coworkers, or community organization. The more, the merrier! Determine your toy drive goals, including the number of toys you aim to collect and the target age groups (infants, toddlers, children, or teenagers).
2. Set a Goal
Define your mission and set a goal for your toy drive. How many toys or donations do you hope to collect? Who would you like to provide gifts for?
KVC serves children of all ages, but one of our biggest populations is teens. We also serve parents and families, and they need a caring person or community to rally behind them, too.
3. Get in Touch
Reach out to KVC Kansas and let us know you’re interested in hosting a toy drive. Contact us by completing this form or by emailing Jackie Harwig at jharwig@kvc.org.
4. Donation Stations
Create a designated donation point where people can drop off their donations at your workplace, school or local community center. Make it convenient for your community to contribute.
Alternatively, you can shop KVC’s Amazon wish list and the items will automatically ship straight to KVC’s office.
5. Spread the Word
Use the power of social media, word of mouth and local outreach to share your mission. Tell everyone why you’re hosting a toy drive for children and families experiencing foster care and how they can help.
6. Start Collecting
Regularly collect donations and keep track of the progress toward your goals. Please ensure that all donated toys are new, unwrapped and safe for children. Here’s a list of gifts the children we serve commonly ask for. Feel free to share this flyer with your group, too!
If you shop KVC’s Amazon wish list, the items will ship directly to KVC’s office.
