Training for mentors to begin June 23rd

hispanic teen girlKVC is excited to announce the launch of a new program; LIFE or Launch Into Future Excellence!  This program was designed to pair mentors in the local community with teens who are in foster care.  The goal of the LIFE program is to engage families and individuals in the community to help young adults make LIFElong connections that will support them as they transition into adulthood.

To become a mentor or LIFE Coach, you must:

  • Be 25 years or older
  • Pass background checks
  • Have a stable living environment and transportation
  • Participate in at least 10 hours of training
  • Complete the required paperwork
  • Be willing to give your time to make a difference in a young adult’s life

Some of the life skills that would be taught in this program are daily living skills, vocational skills, budgeting, goal setting, time management, organizational skills, problem solving, and wellbeing.

KVC’s first LIFE Coach training will start on June 23rd from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Ball Conference Center.  This training will run for four weeks and cover topics including attachment, Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) and transition skills.
