KVC Kansas

Back to School Supplies Needed

KVC Kansas works with over 3,000 children in Kansas who are currently in foster care. Each fall, KVC partners with individuals and organizations to provide the necessary supplies each child needs to be successful this school year.

We invite you to extend a helping hand to children in your local community by donating new backpacks, calculators, binders and more to your local KVC Office.

The needs of children and families are countless, and KVC could not provide school supplies for every child currently in foster care without individual, community or corporate support and contributions.

Think about shopping for new school supplies – picking out the perfect binder, pencil box, folders – then taking everything home and putting your name on each item. Then, carefully putting it all in your new backpack. Remember opening that brand new box of crayons? The smell!  Many of the children in foster care have never had that experience.

Every child needs the following supplies to be successful and confident this school year!

  • Sturdy backpacks in solid colors
  • Calculators
  • 3-ring binders (at least 2.5 inches)
  • Boxes of tissues
  • Black, blue or red pens
  • Highlighters in various colors
  • Crayons – 24 count
  • Number 2 pencils
  • Glue sticks
  • Pocket folders in various colors
  • Graph Paper
  • Wide-rule notebook paper and spiral notebooks
  • College-rule notebook paper and spiral notebooks
  • Index cards
  • Gift cards to Walmart to purchase school uniforms

As you make the decision to participate this year, please remember, by providing a backpack with school supplies, you provide positive memories in a difficult time for each child.

If you are too busy to do the shopping, KVC can make it easy for you! We accept contributions noted for the Back to School Program and our volunteers do the shopping for you! Rest assured that all designated donations will go directly towards purchasing school supplies for children and youth in foster care.
