10 Ways to Prevent Child Abuse

Every day children are abused and neglected across the U.S.  Here are ten ways you can help prevent child abuse.

  1. Be a nurturing parent.
  2. Help another parent-a neighbor, friend or relative.
  3. Take time out for yourself and de-stress when necessary.
  4. Use positive discipline and patience.
  5. Monitor your child’s media intake.
  6. Learn the signs of abuse and understand abuse and neglect.
  7. Advocate for children and families.  Encourage your elected representative to support policies to ensure the health and well-being of children and families.
  8. Volunteer in your community.
  9. Promote programs in school.
  10. Report suspected abuse or neglect
