Families First
Children and teens belong with their own families whenever possible. KVC works to safely reunify hundreds of families each year by providing parenting skills training, therapy and other support.
Caring People Needed
On any given day, KVC Kansas provides out-of-home care for thousands of children and teens. Relatives, non-related kin like teachers and neighbors, and foster parents are all critical to providing temporary care for these children and teens. See how you can make a difference as a foster parent.

How to Donate School Supplies to Children in Foster Care
As you make the decision to participate, please know that by donating a backpack with school supplies, you are providing positive memories in a difficult time for a child.
1. Donate online or donate gift cards (Amazon, Walmart, Target) and we’ll do the shopping for you! All donations will go directly to the youth we serve.
2. Fill a backpack with all the supplies or stock up on a few items and we’ll sort and stuff backpacks for you! After shopping, you can drop off your donations at the KVC office nearest you. Find your local office here or contact the Community Resources Specialist for your area:
- Topeka, Hiawatha & Lawrence area – Chelsea Cox, ccox@kvc.org
- Olathe, KCK & Ottawa area – Brandy Bartlett, bbartlett@kvc.org
- Pittsburg, Chanute & Independence area – Victoria White, ewhite@kvc.org
- Wichita area – Melissa Medina, mmedina@kvc.org
3. Shop our Amazon wish list and all items will automatically ship directly to our office! We’ll sort through the supplies and stuff backpacks before distributing to children and teens in foster care.
4. Host a donation drive with your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, church group, book club or community organization! Gather your community and have a backpack filling party to prepare backpacks for children and teens in foster care.
The needs of children and families are countless, and KVC could not provide school supplies for every child currently in foster care without individual, community and corporate support and contributions.
