Mattress Firm Launches Campaign to Help Children in Foster Care
In December 2015, Mattress Firm launched Mattress Firm Foster Kids, which is a program of the Ticket to Dream Foundation. The program is designed to help positively impact the lives of children in foster care by providing in-kind and monetary contributions to non-profit care organizations.
Mattress Firm Foster Kids knows that the U.S. foster care system provides support for over 400,000 children, and many of these kids have few possessions of their own when they enter the system. Although these children receive care and support from foster families, the stipend foster parents receive is not always sufficient to cover the costs for any extra items such as a soccer uniform, an instrument or a prom dress. It is a wonderful outreach similar to KVC’s Everyday Heroes program launched five years ago, both intended to help children have what they need to succeed.

Your help can provide children in foster care with the little things that often make a big difference — school supplies and sports shoes, properly fitting clothing, or a gift during the holidays. Imagine if we all donated one pair of sports shoes or one holiday gift today. We could easily touch the lives of thousands of children in need! All it takes from you is a simple donation to provide these children with hope for a brighter future.
Through the end of this year, Mattress Firm stores throughout the entire state of Kansas will host supply drives in their stores to collect warm clothing, school supplies, shoes, and toys. Multiple in-store supply drives will also take place at their participating store locations:
- May 2, 2016 – June 26, 2016: Clothing Drive
- July 11, 2016 – September 4, 2016: School Drive
- September 12, 2016 – October 30, 2016: Shoe Drive
- November 1, 2016 – December 18, 2016: Secret Santa Toy Drive
