Families First
Children and teens belong with their own families whenever possible. KVC works to safely reintegrate hundreds of families each year by providing parenting skills training, therapy and other support.
Caring People Needed
On any given day, KVC Kansas provides out-of-home care for thousands of youth. Relatives, non-related kin like teachers and neighbors, and foster families are all critical to providing temporary care for these children and teens.

Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP)
Located in Kansas City, KS, the Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) provides girls ages 12 and older who are in foster care with behavioral health services to meet their needs. We provide onsite individual and group therapy as well as family therapy. Our facility is situated on almost 2 acres of land where the girls can play volleyball, basketball, walk laps or visit with family at our picnic tables. The QRTP also has gardening areas where the girls raise food for the house. We partner with our local school district for the girls to attend middle or high school off site.
KVC sponsors over 900 foster homes through our Child Placing Agency (CPA) department, so when a youth is ready, we are able to match them with loving caregivers while the family continues to work towards reunification. We offer family therapy to potential families (foster, relatives and kinship) to assist in addressing expectations and rules of the home.
We provide aftercare support on a weekly basis for the first month after discharge and weekly contacts for the following five months. Aftercare is focused on placement stability and offers community resources as well as ideas on how to implement positive behavior interventions and support.
